However, in Crapless Craps, rolling a 2, 3, or 12 on the come-out roll is treated as establishing a point, and the game continues.

What is Cumbia Music?

Cumbia is a style of Latin music that originated in Colombia and is now popular throughout South America, Central America, and the United States. Traditional cumbia music uses a blend of African, Native American, and European styles and uses musical instruments such as drums, flutes, maracas, and accordions.

Cumbia, as a music genre, has many different styles based on where it’s played.  Countries across Latin America — like Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Cuba, and Mexico — all have their own unique styles and additions to the music. Cumbia music is most discernible for being percussion-heavy, with a signature double beat played on a maraca or drum, and flutes that carry the melody.

Meet R.O.B. – Our New Security Robot

Security RobotThat’s not R2D2 that you may have seen in the parking garage.  It’s the newest tool of our Security team — a Knightscope K5 Autonomous Security Robot that we call R.O.B., which stands for Remote Observation Bot.  We’ve partnered with Knightscope — an advanced security technology company based in Silicon Valley — to utilize this fully autonomous security robot that deters, detects and reports.

WHAT IS R.O.B.?

R.O.B. is a self-driving (autonomous) security robot that supplements the patrols of our Security team.  It drives around our property without any human intervention while contributing to our overall Silverton security mission.  Through its observations, we gather and deliver additional levels of data and actionable intelligence to our Security team to assist in making smarter, safer and faster decisions.

The K5 robot uses 16 microphones and a range of sensors, including lidar and sonar, to detect anomalies and report them in real-time to our Security and Surveillance teams. The robot has four wide-angle cameras which take 360 degrees of high-definition footage. The robot also has a license plate recognition designed to alert Security if it detects the plate number of a suspicious individual.

R.O.B. can see a full 360-degrees (even in the dark), stream that video directly to our Security and Surveillance teams, and keep a high-definition record of it for days.  His powerful analytics allow us to detect a human being that the human eye may not even be able to see under certain conditions.

When R.O.B. sees something, it says something by reporting the incident or “alert” in real time via email, text, and his included software.  It relies on machine learning, deep learning and refining his detection capabilities so that It may reduce or even eliminate any margin of error, which makes these alerts better over time.

 

WHERE ELSE CAN I FIND SUCH A ROBOT?

Who is Pablo Cruise?

Pablo Cruise Multi-platinum selling Bay Area pop/rock band Pablo Cruise performs live at Veil Pavilion on Saturday, January 27 at 8pm. Enjoy honest, real down-to-earth vocals, accompanied by fun yet elegant, infectious grooves. To hear Pablo Cruise on record is one thing, but to experience the band live is an exhilarating event! The band is bringing more energy and excitement to the stage than ever before! 

In 1975 Pablo Cruise released its first A&M album simply entitled Pablo Cruise. The album cover was shot in the tropical gardens of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and it featured a huge gorilla standing front and center. The band, David Jenkins (guitars, vocals), Cory Lerios(keyboards, vocals), Bud Cockerel (bass, vocals) and Steve Price (drums, percussion) were no where in sight. 

At that point there was a bit of a mystique surrounding Pablo Cruise and when asked what Pablo Cruise meant, the well-rehearsed answer went something like this: “Pablo,” represents an honest, real, down to earth individual, and “Cruise” depicts his fun loving, easy going attitude towards life: In essence that’s what Pablo Cruise music is all about. Honest, real down to earth vocals, accompanied by fun yet elegant, infectious grooves. To hear Pablo Cruise on record is one thing, but to experience the band live is an exhilarating event!

From 1975 to 1985 the band toured the United States, Canada and Japan extensively, welcoming fans to “Climb Aboard The Good Ship Pablo Cruise.” Reaching the top 10 with mega hits like “Whatcha Gonna Do When She Says Goodbye?” and “Love Will Find A Way,” and several other top 20s, the band went on to sell several million albums and singles collectively and established themselves as well respected writers and performers within the industry.

They appeared on numerous TV shows, including Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, The Merv Griffin Show, The Dinah Shore Hour and in 1979 they broke Elvis Presley’s attendance record at the Sahara Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, becoming the first rock band to play a casino showroom. They also became the first rock band to grace the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, but by 1985 after completing several national tours and releasing 7 studio albums in all, the band decided to take a hiatus……one that lasted nearly 20 years.

Fast forward 20 years…. In 2005 a reunited Pablo Cruise picked up where they left off and today the band performs all over the U.S. and Canada and they’re enjoying it more than ever… Since getting back together, they have released two live CDs and a DVD all through Sony Music documenting their exceptional live shows.  

During the Pandemic the boys wrote and produced a new single (through Sony) entitled “Breathe” which received considerable critical reviews!  One of the great things about playing shows after all these years, is that primary songwriters David Jenkins and Cory Lerios are still on board!  “Cory says, going out and playing shows these days, gives us the opportunity to not only pay tribute to our timeless repertoire, it also gives us a chance to see old friends and fans from back in the day, as well as gaining a whole new audience!”  Today Pablo Cruise is bringing more energy and excitement to the stage than ever before and with the addition of Larry Antonino (bass, vocals), Robbie Wyckoff (vocals, percussion) and Sergio Gonzalez (drums, percussion) the band has never sounded better!

Refreshed Venue Marks First Southwest Las Vegas Book for Sports Betting Venture

Temporary Book Beginning January 1, 2024

 

Circa Sports LogoLAS VEGAS – Circa Sports – the Las Vegas-based sports betting brand from CEO Derek Stevens – has partnered with Las Vegas casino-hotel Silverton Casino Lodge to launch a newly renovated Las Vegas sportsbook. Marking Circa Sports’ fifth satellite book in southern Nevada and first in southwest Las Vegas, the venture will assume operations through a temporary location at Silverton on January 1, 2024, with the permanent sportsbook officially debuting in March – just in time for March Hoops season.

“As a Vegas-born venture, Circa Sports is thrilled to be working with a beloved local property like Silverton to launch our first southwest Las Vegas book,” said Stevens. “Silverton has been an excellent partner in bringing this life and we look forward to introducing an easily accessible and visually stunning sports betting option to a new part of the city.”

Located next to Silverton’s parking garage, the permanent 1,600-square-foot Circa Sportsbook at Silverton will offer a variety of seating options and ways to enjoy the day’s games, including:

  • A Daktronics screen that can be configured to show games from all major sports leagues and other streaming services
  • Three betting windows
  • Three self-serving betting kiosks, odds boards and betting sheet racks
  • 12 lounge chairs
  • Six four-person tables
  • Four six-person booths
  • 22 bar top games with various ADA seating throughout the space

Tentative business hours will be from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily, with hours fluctuating on peak demand days.

“We are thrilled for Circa Sports to launch their best-in-class sportsbook at Silverton,” said Rob Kunkle, President of Silverton Casino, “The new sportsbook will give our players one more reason to visit and frequent Silverton.”

While the permanent book closes for renovation, Circa Sports will assume Silverton’s sports betting operations through a temporary book beginning January 1. Located next to Shady Grove Bar and Lounge, the location will consist of two betting windows, two self-serving betting kiosks and four TV screens displaying odds. Bettors can catch the action at the adjacent bar, which offers TV screens that will play the day’s biggest games.

The new Sportsbook will be the next step in recent renovations for Silverton Casino Lodge.  Rooms at the newly renovated lodge, which have undergone a complete $40 million renovation, are now open, creating a new boutique hotel experience to anchor the casino resort.  Also coming in early 2024 is an all-new $10 million backyard and pool renovation called The Swimmin’ Hole, which will include poolside dining, sports and movies at the pool, cabanas, fire pits and more.

As the story goes, a gang of spirited elves has chosen to add holiday flair to Shady Grove Lounge to make it look a bit more like the North Pole.  Throughout the bar, visitors can get into the holiday spirit with string lights, wrapped presents, oversized ornaments, and dozens of elves suspended from the ceiling. A cozy fireplace with a Christmas tree nestled in the corner creates the perfect photo backdrop.

Even the iconic Airstream – the focal point of the award-winning lounge – is decked out in festive red and green kitsch, complete with snow-covered Christmas trees, elves, presents, and Santa and his reindeer on the roof.

Las Vegas Tarot Card Readings

Cider Fest at Silverton Casino will feature Tarot Tuesdays every Tuesday in September and October.  Between the hours of 6-8pm, visitors can get a Las Vegas tarot card reading from licensed  psychic Michele Tell.

In these “happy hour readings,” Tell blends her innate psychic gifts with an intuitive Tarot reading. She provides a truly deep introspective experience she likes to call Extremely Real Tarot Guidance.

Tell uses numerous tarot decks — some themed for Halloween — for messages that not only showcase current patterns and behaviors and future pathing and provide interesting messages for the fall season.

Cider Fest Continues

Celebrate the flavors of fall at the inaugural Cider Fest at Silverton Casino. With several unique types of hard cider available on tap, this event is the perfect opportunity to indulge in the flavors of the season.   Cider Fest runs through Oct. 31, 2023.

Visitors can treat themselves to a flight of hard ciders, expertly curated to offer a range of tastes and styles or sip on their favorite cider on tap while relaxing in the lounge.

What’s a fall festival without great food?  Cider Fest will include a menu of “festival favorites,” including fresh State Fair Mini Doughnuts, a made-to-order sweet treat that perfectly complements the cider offerings.

Other choices include the Apple Cider Puff Pastry, made with ACE hard cider-infused apples, and topped with pastry crumbs, caramel sauce, and vanilla ice cream.  Savory selections feature Disco Fries, topped with gravy, melted mozzarella cheese, cheese sauce, and shredded beef short ribs; cheese curds; and giant soft pretzels.

Silverton Presents a New Boutique Hotel Experience for Las Vegas Visitors

Las Vegas hotel roomsRooms for the newly renovated Silverton Casino Lodge are on sale for hotel reservations beginning Oct. 2.  The hotel, which is undergoing a complete renovation, has been closed to create a new boutique hotel experience to anchor the casino resort.

The remodeled hotel features 300 “rustic-luxe” boutique hotel rooms and suites including three distinct “design stories,” each with its own curated style, decor, and spirit that will transport guests into a unique experience during every visit:

  • Cowboy Kitsch Collection – rooms featuring a quirky blend of rustic chic with tasteful modern accents
  • Rustic Modern Collection – rooms featuring natural, aged, and weathered furnishings, with the sense of natural warmth of the outdoors
  • Refined Lodge Collection – rooms inspired by the elegant Rockies glam design and the legendary cattle baron homes found in the West.

“This is where luxury meets the rustic charm of a modern lodge,” said Silverton CEO Craig Cavileer.  “Each thoughtfully renovated room has been meticulously designed to be upscale, casual, fun and of course super comfortable.”

The designs were inspired by the company’s award-winning sister property Hotel Drover, a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel, which opened to national acclaim in 2021 in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.   Just like Hotel Drover, the Silverton designs include rich details with intentional and eye-catching touchpoints.  Since its opening, the Drover has been recognized by USA Today, Condé Nast, Forbes, and Travel + Leisure for its unique and elegant western glam design, curated art, crafted fixtures, and custom furnishings.

“This is more than a room remodel,” said Kayla Wilkie, director of design and development for Majestic Realty Co, an affiliate of Silverton and Hotel Drover.  “This was an opportunity to creatively reinvent our entire hotel operation in Las Vegas.  While we are keeping aspects of our lodge theme that our guests have enjoyed over the years, our new rooms and suites  will envelop our guests in a new spirit of rustic elegance, providing a unique Las Vegas hotel experience.”

In addition to new rooms, the Silverton renovation has other improvements underway including all-new casino carpet, slot and video poker upgrades, and refreshes to restaurant menus.  Coming in early 2024 is an all-new $12m backyard and pool renovation which will include poolside dining, sports, and movies at the pool, cabanas, fire pits and more.

“We are very excited to present this fresh and innovative design to our customers,” said Cavileer.  “Kayla did a phenomenal job in designing the award-winning Hotel Drover in Fort Worth and she has delivered an amazing product for us here as well.”

Architectural and Interior Design for the Silverton renovation project was provided by Klai Juba Wald, the resort’s architect of record.
