Best Picnic Spots in Las Vegas

Spring Magnolia Trees

Spring is here! That means blossoming flowers, sunshine and picnics at the park. Springtime activities involve shaking off the cold weather and going outdoors again, hiking and maybe even taking family road trips. Vegas is a beautifully diverse city. We have a lot of different attractions, activities and communities. So, here are some of the best spots to have a picnic in Las Vegas this spring.

Exploration Park

Exploration Peak

This park is one of the staple recreational venues in the Mountain’s Edge community. Exploration Park features a Western-themed park for children and families to play and get a taste of the Wild West.

Adjacent to the park is an area called Exploration Peak, a 2,846-foot tall natural mountain park. Families can venture up to the peak on bicycle and walking trails where they’ll find historical trail markers and an authentic sundial as well as one-of-a-kind panoramic views of the city.

This expansive park offers a ton of activities for families to enjoy. Aside from picnic areas, walking trails and a Western-themed village, it also features an archaeological dig site and outdoor amphitheater where several Mountain’s Edge community events are held.

The Green at Silverton Casino

The Green at Silverton

Yes, it’s possible to have a picnic at a hotel and casino just minutes from the Strip! The Green at Silverton Casino boasts a large open lawn, decorated walkways and two bonfire pits.

Take a seat and relax in our colorful Adirondack chairs by the bonfire at sunset or have a fun family picnic on the lawn. Guests can also take a short but scenic walk around property on our decorated trail. The vine awnings provide the perfect background for a memorable photo.

And that’s only half the fun you can have with your family here at Silverton. Walk inside our front entrance and you’ll immediately spot a 117,000-gallon Aquarium home to thousands of tropical fish and a few mermaids. Guests can enjoy interactive sting ray feedings daily starting at 1:30pm. Treat your children to a magical mermaid show from Thursday through Saturday starting at 12pm and Sunday starting at 10:30am.

And the fun doesn’t stop there! Grab some gelato at Sundance Grill and get back to your picnic on The Green.

Springs Preserve

Springs Preserve

If you’re looking for a truly educational experience, look no further than Springs Preserve. This 180-acre park boasts scenery, exhibits, attractions, trails and wildlife and hosts several events throughout the week. You may not be able to have an authentic picnic on their lawns but their Divine Cafe offers a scenic patio where you can catch an incredible view of the park and the Las Vegas Strip.

Purchasing a family membership for this park would be beneficial as members receive great discounts on bike rentals, train boarding passes, entrance to their different exhibits and more.

Springs Preserve is home to the Nevada State Museum which outlines the history of Las Vegas. You can marvel at fossils, step inside a stalactite cave and witness an atomic explosion. Don’t miss the 8-acre Botanical Garden which has thousands of Mojave Desert plants and several themed gardens. You can also talk to horticulturalists who can teach you about plant preservation and composting.

Lastly, the train ride is an essential activity when coming to Springs Preserve. Take a scenic 2.2-mile ride down the Exploration Loop Trail while learning about local history.
